Rugby at the O2 Arena
Creative Technology and Dimension Audio were approached by their client Sledge, to supply the screens and audio for the Rugby World Cup semi-final and the final at The O2 arena, London.
Sledge, working with their client O2 were offering fans the chance to enjoy a premium match experience as well as pre and post-game entertainment. The screenings were to accommodate 5000 people in the London Piazza, this was extended to 9000 for the final when an outdoor screening area was erected in Peninsula Square
Sledge received the brief only 3 days before the semi-finals were due to take place. Working alongside Sledge Production Manager, Matt Phillips, CT Project Manager’s Matthew Eve and Steve Purkess were able to organise the technical equipment and rigging required to fulfil the project in record time.
In the main space, Creative Technology supplied a 43m² Mitsubishi OD10 screen, with accompanying rigging. Dimension Audio provided a selection of speakers from their new XLc system, all of which was processed through a Yamaha LS9-16 Mixer. The 4000-strong crowd outside didn’t miss out on any of the entertainment, a live feed of pre-match entertainment, including bands and interviews as well as the “live” match was relayed onto an additional 43m² Mitsubishi OD10 screen and D&B speakers to bring the inside action outside.
The event was hugely popular with a record number of people keen to watch the action at the O2 Arena.
