CT Installs Revolutionary Digital LED Rear Projection Modules

Revolutionary digital LED rear projection modules, omniSHAPES, were installed by Creative Technology (CT) for the first time at the 2011 Frankfurt Motorshow on the Volkswagen stand and are now available from the international audio visual solutions supplier. The modular displays can adapt perfectly for creative use at exhibitions, conferences, events, shows and TV.

The innovative omniSHAPES display cubes, represent a step forward in digital display evolution. For the first time it is possible to not have only rectangular displays, but also polygonal screens of almost any shape. The funnel shaped design of the housings also allows curved screens in concave or convex configuration to be created, providing virtually unlimited potential for interactive large screen display design.

omniSHAPES are based on a 1-Chip DLP® projection engine with LED lamp technology, combined with a strong frame unit which interfaces with adjacent frames and the screen unit. The modular concept of the trio of projection screen, base frame and projection engine allows great flexibility, providing a choice of base frames and projection screens in different shapes and sizes to be used with the standard projection engine which offers automatic colour and brightness adjustment. Each "shape" is equipped with an internal processing unit, negating the need for external picture processing devices.

Constructed as a 36 metre wide, interactive wall in the innovation area, more than 40 square metres of the new product became the visual highlight for Volkswagen’s stand – this was the largest touch screen at the entire exhibition. The 240 omniSHAPES modules were installed in various configurations, created in concave and convex design and delivered with full HD content.
